Bimmer Motors Inc. offers the most comprehensive possible service available. We call it a "Major Service", but a more accurate name might be "total service and analysis of a vehicle's operations". We thought you might like to see the checklist our technicians and service managers use to make sure every item is completed.

Oil/Lube/Filter

  1. Drain and replace engine oil, inspect or change transmission fluid, differential gear oil.
  2. Replace oil filter. Install new drain plug seals, and O ring.
  3. Replace fuel filter, air filter, transmission filter and gasket for automatic transmission if applicable.



    Suspension

  4. Check all components for excessive wear or damage.
  5. Check all ball joints, bushings, and motor, transmission, differential mounts.
  6. Treat all underbody rubber components, bushings, covers, boots and mounts to prevent damage from moisture and contaminants.
  7. Check tire tread for uneven wear and to discover potential alignment problems or suspension failure. Check all tire pressures (including spare) and adjust.



    Tune-Up

  8. Adjust valves if applicable, replace valve cover gasket and rocker shaft seals.
  9. Replace spark plugs, set gap to factory specification.
  10. Replace distributor cap, rotor, points, condenser for all models prior to 1980.
  11. Check Motronic cap and rotor. Replace only if necessary.
  12. Check ignition wires, boots and connectors for cracks, dryness and wear. Replace if necessary.
  13. Add Techron and Dry Gas additives to fuel tank.



    Belts/Alternator/Battery

  14. Check all belts and adjust all belt tensions.
  15. Check all cables and grounds to alternator and battery. Replace or repair if necessary.
  16. Clean battery terminals. Check battery electrolyte level and replenish if necessary.



    Cooling System

  17. Check all hoses (engine cooling and heater) for strength. Replace where necessary.
  18. Check coolant quality, replenish or flush.
  19. Check thermostat and radiator cap for operation.
  20. Check engine fan, fan clutch and auxiliary fan for condition and operation.
    General Engine Operation
  21. Run engine to operating temperature. Check for leaks.
  22. Check exhaust system for general condition, leaks and proper attachment.



    Road Test

  23. Drive at various speeds on different surfaces and evaluate.
  24. Check acceleration, steering, braking, transmission and clutch for smooth reliable operation.
  25. Check instruments for accuracy. Check all controls, switches, dash and interior lights.
  26. Check air conditioning, heater, defroster operation.
  27. Check windshield wiper and washer operation. Aim washer nozzles and replenish fluid.
  28. Reset service interval and oil service lights.



    Exterior Lights

  29. Check headlights, tail lights, stop lights and side markers for operation.
  30. Check 4-way hazard flasher lights and turn signals for operation.
  31. Check all light lenses for cracks or damage.
  32. Check fog lights (if equipped), aim for optimum performance.



    Doors/Trunk/Hood Hinges/Seals/Locks

  33. Treat all weather seals to prevent damage from moisture or contaminants.
  34. Oil all hinges, springs and door brakes.
  35. Grease all sliding lock assemblies, hood rails and rollers.
  36. Check central locking system for smooth operation.
    Manager's Inspection
  37. Review each mechanical item with the assigned technician to insure completion.
  38. Road test, check each aspect of the Major Service.
  39. Enter recommendations from technician for future service requirements in comment section of repair order.
